The Connecticut Democracy Center

Kid Governor® is an award-winning civics program created by The Connecticut Democracy Center (CTDC) and is a program in residence at Connecticut’s Old State House.

CTDC inspires people of all ages to engage in civic life and strengthen their communities. We envision a society where everyone is empowered to participate in our democracy. In addition to Kid Governor®, CTDC leads the Connecticut History Day program for middle and high schoolers as well as educational and community programming at Connecticut’s Old State House.

About Connecticut’s Old State House
Located in the heart of Hartford, the Old State House served as a home to all three branches of Connecticut state government from 1796 to 1878. Some of the state’s most important stories of freedom, democracy, and civic action – from the Amistad and Prudence Crandall trials to the Constitutional Convention of 1818 – connect to this National Historic Landmark. People of all ages and from across the world visit Connecticut’s Old State House to learn more about the three branches of state government, the building’s history, and to visit the Kid Governor’s Office!
