In 2015, The Connecticut Democracy Center launched Connecticut’s Kid Governor® as a pilot civics program for 5th graders. Years later, Kid Governor® is a national program with affiliates in other states and Connecticut’s Kid Governor® as the flagship program. Connecticut’s 2026 Kid Governor Theresa “Tessa” Hallinan
Theresa “Tessa” Hallinan of North Haven, CT was elected by the 5th graders of her state to serve as Connecticut’s 2026 Kid Governor. During her one-year term in office, Tessa will advance her Everyone Belongs platform which addresses inclusion for students with disabilities.
